Thanksgiving: A Message to our Valued Clients

We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the mental health professional community in Canada, and our valued Owl Practice clients. We want to express how much we appreciate the work that you do, and for entrusting Owl Practice with the critical support systems to help you operate.

What is Gratitude Really?

What does it really mean to be thankful? And what are we grateful for at Owl Practice?

There are generally two qualities belonging in the definition of gratitude. First, there is appreciation; recognizing that something adds value to your life, which goes beyond monetary value. We try to acknowledge all the things that are valuable to us, and these are things that have nothing to do with their monetary worth. This kind of appreciation is a general recognition that there is goodness in our lives and goodness in the world. It’s important to recognize that goodness, even when not everything is completely ideal or going our way.

The second quality of gratitude is the idea that there are good things that are freely given to us and that there are sources of goodness outside of ourselves. Both individual people and also the world in general provide us with “many gifts, big and small, to help us achieve the goodness in our lives.” This is an idea vocalized by Robert Emmons, one of the world’s leading experts on gratitude.

Counting our Blessings

At Owl Practice, first and foremost, we are so thankful to be Canadian. We are very fortunate to live in this country and this country offers many blessings we don’t take for granted.

We are also, of course, huge believers in furthering mental health support and availability in Canada. What you do as therapists, psychologists, and social work matters—a great deal. Choosing to enter the field of therapy to help people live more functional and fulfilling lives is among the most honourable callings we can imagine. It’s our honour to do what we can to help you, whether you’re an Owl Practice subscriber or not. We are thankful for you and the contribution you make to individuals and our society!

Giving Thanks & Giving Back

One of the most significant barriers to finding mental health help is, well, actually being able to find it. When the average person types “therapy” into Google, they’re going to get an overwhelming number of results. The perfect therapist to help them will likely be buried under promoted ads and WebMD articles.

This is one of the reasons why we created TherapyOwl. We wanted to give back to the community and to help make a positive impact on people searching for mental health services. TherapyOwl is a free service where mental health professionals can create searchable profiles for those looking for help. Rather than having to dig through countless irrelevant search engine results, someone looking for help can get a list of mental health professionals in their area. They can search based on their mental health concerns, location, and type of therapist. It’s free for both therapists and users. You don’t even need to be an Owl Practice subscriber to create a profile. It’s our way of supporting the mental health profession as a whole.

Most of all, we would like to thank you for all of the constructive feedback, suggestions, and continued use of Owl. You truly make our work a pleasure! We truly set out to create a practice management solution that would help the therapy community in your noble work. We are constantly listening to your feedback and working to improve Owl; it’s our continued mission to help make your practice more efficient, so that you can help more people every week. If you’re new to Owl, as always you are welcome to take a free 14-day trial or book a demo to see everything that Owl Practice has to offer.

If you have any questions or comments about our services, please don’t hesitate to contact us at support@owlpractice.ca.
